Winter is the calmest season. Perhaps it is why we celebrate the changing of years; time itself slows so that we can appreciate it. Snow falls and erases all eyesores, muffles sound and generally makes a warrm bed a personal goal.

It is also when we congregate to look backward and forward. We admire the history that brought us all together. We aspire to greater things in the future.
